"Life" ~ Missing Sly Stone & Next Stoops to Nuts @ Aug 13th

"Life, life, tell it like it is, you don't have to die before you live," sung Sly Stone, one of my musical heroes, who lost his way while building one of the greatest song-filled roads ever laid down for our listening pleasure.

Paisley passively agrees with Sly by lying in front of the cereal box.

"Yorkville: Stoops to Nuts" is a Time Out Magazine pick of the week.

Our next "City Stories: Stoops to Nuts" storytelling show is Tuesday, August 13th @ 6pm @ the Cornelia Street Cafe. Our artists: Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi; Jim Hawkins and Karen Pillsworth. I'll host and tell a Yorkville yarn. Admission is $8 and that includes a free drink. Time Out Magazine thinks this show is a swell thing to do.

The week after Labor Day, The Yorkville Creperie will host a reception to open a two month exhibit of my photography. I'll announce the opening date in a few days.

Hot Fun in the Summertime

Sly Stone's "Hot Fun In the Summertime" set a timeless tone for urban summer bliss. Here it comes again. Right on time.

"Tommy, get the extension cords." Dad said

"Oh, God, not again." Mom said.

When I was a boy on 83rd Street, Dad strung four to five extension cords out our 4th floor window and walked the rope of cords up the fire escape to our roof. Then we'd walk up two chairs, a portable TV, and a spaghetti pot full of ice for our drinks. I saw a hundred sunsets like this one waiting for darkness so we could watch baseball or exhibition football games, Mom declared us nuts.

Them summer days...
