Love Plus One ~ Washington Square Pool Party

Visited my Aunt Barbie Pins in Elmhurst yesterday. Mom's youngest sister, Barbara Ryan, used to use me for boy bait when I was a toddler. She was 17 and offered more than necessary to walk me around Yorkville in the stroller. Mom loved the break. Barbara wheeled me directly over to Kronk's Soda Fountain on York Avenue & 87th St. where all the boy herds grazed inside and outside the center of the local teenage universe. I received many free egg creams and two cent pretzels. Pissed Mom off when I wouldn't eat dinner.

Came back into the city for Slashtipher Coleman book launch, a wonderful time for a great guy and huge talent (sorry for not saying goodbye, Slash, I needed to leave at 8). Before hand, I ran into Sharain. She was carrying a big S down 6th Avenue heading to Slash Coleman "The Bohemian Love Diaries" Book Launch @ The Gallery at LPR

I stopped at Washington Square Park after exiting the R subway. It was 95 Degrees @ 5pm. There was a Village pool party. I took photos. The steady sweat running from my head to my feet, well worth it.  Love Plus One played in my ear. I love summer, I love water.

April Storytelling at Cornelia Street Cafe

Storytelling lit up Cornelia Street Cafe last night. "City Stories: Stoops to Nuts" tellers and musicians brought their best game downstairs.

A packed audience cheered on April's artists: Barbara Aliprantis, Slash Coleman, Kurt Gertsmann, Dave Lester, Sherryl Marshall, Susan Neuffer, Elise Morris, Tricia Scotti & Leslie Wagner. 

Thank you all for being part of the show and letting me watch your talented performances. Thank you, to a terrific crowd for your attentive support. Thank you, Steve Northeast and Annie May Cron for keeping the customers satisfied and making us feel at home.

Stoops to Nuts @ Cornelia St. Cafe @ 6pm ~ Tonight!

Last night Under St. Mark's Theatre I witnessed the best doubleheader I've seen since 1972 in the Old Yankee Stadium when Sparky Lyle saved two against the Tigers. The Adam Wade Show and the BTK Band, 18 innings of kick ass storytelling, song and visual treats. Golf clap in order here, "clap, clap, clap."

Tonight I'm carrying that energy over to City Stories: Stoops to Nuts tonight, Tuesday, March 13th @ 6pm at Cornelia Street Café. Our artists are Claudia Chopek, Joe McGinty, John Newell, Rick Patrick, Thomas Pryor, Rivka Widerman & Ward White. Giving away ten drinks. Getting our Irish up, its birthday week, bring your best game. $7 and saying "hoity toity," gets you in the door with a free drink.

Radio, Course Horse & Village Photographs

I’ve been wrapped up in football since the first Giant Dallas game in early December. I’m taking a breather today and writing about something that interests me outside the Jints.

First, thank you, Diana Navarro for having me on your “Working Things Out,” radio show at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy last night.  I had a great time and look forward to coming back sometime soon.

Another thing that interests me is finding new things to do in New York City.  I’ve lived here all my life and my curiosity keeps me searching for new adventures. You never know what discovery is out there. I want to learn how to draw and how to play the piano.  It’s not easy deciding what course to take, who to take it with and where to take it. Are you also looking for something new to do, stretch a hobby or talent, or find new ones?

You might want to check out a site called Course Horse. Course Horse makes it easy to find and enroll in good classes in New York City. They partner with local providers of classes to create a single site that people can go to when they want to find and enroll in a class.  You can filter your search by course subject, by neighborhood, by price, by age, by time and date.

If you want to see what courses are out there all over the city, Course Horse is a great place to start. I am not getting compensation to say nice things, I like the concept and the way Course Horse has set it up.

Dusk in Washington Square Park

Had business in the village last night.  Arrived early and killed time in the park. Saw a fellow doing sand art near the Arch, and another fellow making friends with a squirrel.  Then I watched the light say good night.
