New York Skyline From Top of One World Trade Center

Made plans weeks ago to tour the World Trade Center construction site. Not feeling too swift was not going to stop me. Biked to the location and met my friends.
We saw everything below ground and skyward from the 73rd floor of One World Trade Center. At times it was surreal, then it turned majestic. Especially, when we climbed to the crow's nest with the wrap around view of New York's Skyline. Thank you, Garland Jeffreys for writing this beautiful song. Here's a peek. More coming during the week.

Saying Goodbye to September in the Flatiron District

Rushing through the Flatiron neighborhood on the last night in September, I crossed Fifth Avenue at 19th Street looked north and stopped dead. The Empire State Building in twilight was brilliant. I put down the flowers intended for Karol Nielsen on the launch of her terrific new memoir, Black Elephants and started snapping away. Here are a few photos and a link to more. Always sorry to see September go.

West Village Gets Together for Japan

Last Thursday, I attended a rolling benefit at Gizzi Cafe that Kenji Tajima has been hosting ever since the melt down in Japan. I came to hear my friend,Debby Schwartz, perform a set to support the effort.

Debby was terrific, playing her original songs with heart, depth and soaring voice. She will release a new CD record this fall. Debby closed her set with a Youngbloods cover appropriate for the cause, “Get Together.”
Gizzi's Cafe is located at 16 West 8th St, NYC, between 5th & 6th Avenue. Cute place, great service.
