Central Park, Manhattan's Jewel

I never feel bored in Central Park. It's a year long feast of seasons and their changes, the snow, rain, wind, sunshine, night, blossoms, critters, everything inside the park is a treat. I like getting caught in wicked rain, go under cover and watch the nature show.

This past Saturday, at Bohemian Hall the Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts celebrated Yorkville with a panel of neighborhood old timers, amazing historic lectures about the neighborhood, and the best marionette show I've ever seen and finally, a buffet lunch, a huge delicious spread supplied by the best food spots in Yorkville. It cost only $20 for non-members, and $10 for members, it was a blast!

If they ever do it again, fly there. Thank you, Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts for a wonderful event.

Triple Duty Communion Suits & Central Park Reservoir

My favorite games of tag were played in front of Mother Mary in St. Stephen's yard. 1962, second grade, our communion suits and dresses did triple duty: at the communion ceremony, doing a waltz in the talent show (directed by a chain smoking Mrs. Otis & always had a puss on her face Sister Lorraine), and marching in the May Queen procession in the yard with all of us dressed to the Ts. Boys in blue, girls in white.

The Return of the King ~ Central Park Twilight in Snow

I've put up the second batch of snow photos I took in Central Park and Yorkville last week. Below is a public link to the album so you can view all the pix whether you are on Facebook or not. The park in snow is cinematic. Walking alone through Central Park at twilight turning dark is a Hollywood picture show.

Last week was The Return of the King.

Here is a link to the photos.

The Whole of the Moon

I need a new Waterboys experience. Summer 1990, a friend gave me a tape filled with their songs. My first listen through "The Whole of the Moon," I nearly ran through a tree in Central Park. After the run, I stretched my hamstrings on the stones at the 85th Street Reservoir station. "A Man Is In Love" played in my ears, the sun sunk and tension left my body like counting off before going under general anesthesia.

How could I forgot them? I need a new Waterboys experience. It's out there, I'll find it.
