Gramercy Park Squirrels Channel Dad Late For Work

Gramercy Park
The squirrel on the left is my father late for work running out of the 83rd St apartment in 1963 as my mother yells, "if you got up on time, blah, blah blah..."

The squirrel below (same squirrel three seconds later) is my father running back into to the apartment because he forgot his keys, money or belt.

Rory and I observed this scene a few hundred times while eating burnt toast and drinking Tang. Mom favored powdered beverages (4C Ice Tea, etc.) for her four flights of stairs grocery carrying purposes. If she could have got away with it, she would have bought powdered milk, too, but Dad would have killed her. So would we.

Our next "City Stories: Stoops to Nuts," show is Tues, December 10th @ 6pm @ Cornelia Street Cafe. Our talented artists are Barbara Aliprantis,Steven Berkowitz, James Lanman, Rebecca Mills & Siobhan O'Loughlin with your guest host, Barbara Aliprantis. $8 admission includes a free drink. A fine time will be had by all, promise. This is a wonderful line-up, sorry to miss this great show, but I'll be back in January. Thank you, Barbara, for helping me out.

My framed photographs are on display at the Yorkville Creperie through the end of the year. Please drop by and see them when you can.
