Getting Near Bike Weather & Start of NYPL's Upper East Side Oral History Project

March lifts me, it's getting near bike weather in my camera in pocket. It's always an adventure even if I've been there before, I always find a view that catches my eye in a new way.

Like sandstone boy in front of SummerStage space in Central Park.

Or the swirling stair rail you see on small stoop leading to a doctor office in many buildings west of Lexington Avenue.

Liquor Store sign on a clothing store at the corner of White Street and West Broadway.

Or a Saturday ride past Grand Central, look up and see a cool reflection of the Chrysler Building standing next to the original.

Check out my 1960s memoir, "I Hate the Dallas Cowboys - tales of a scrappy New York boyhood." at Logos Book Store, or purchase the book online at Amazon (114 five-star reviews out of 114 posted) or Barnes & Noble ~ and buy "River to River ~ New York Scenes From a Bicycle" my photography portfolio online. pictures of Manhattan taken on my bike rides available online that you might enjoy.

Starting March 30th, I'm working with the New York Public Library's Neighborhood Oral History Project, "Upper East Side Story." If you lived on the East Side between 59th St. & 96th St. for 25 or more years (the longer the better) and you would like me to interview you about your history in the neighborhood, please email me at tommy.pryor@gmail.com, and I will email you back a document describing the project. It will be an easy conversation where I listen to you talk about where you came from. Your recollections will become part of the permanent record at NYPL, available for the public to hear.
