Taking Mail in Carl Schurz Park

When I was a kid, my father spent so much time in Loftus Tavern on 85th and York, Mom said to him, "why don't you take your mail there."  I thought of that as I sat at the checker table inside Carl Schurz Park. With the weather improvement, my cabin fever suggested it was a good time to go office alfresco.

So, when the day is bright and the wind is light look for me near the river. Drop by and say hello. Unless you see me opening my mail. That means I'm doing bills, Dad and I do not like check writing.

I sent my Yorkville memoir to my editor yesterday. In the fall it goes to the publisher, release spring 2014. Three dozen stories about the neighborhood and 75 b&w photographs of Yorkville as far back as 1906.
