Coney Island Survives But Help is Needed There & Elsewhere

Rode to Coney Island yesterday. They were still without power, there was damage, but mild compared to Staten Island, Queens, Long Island and Jersey shores. The boardwalk was desolate but still there. The Poseidon playground on 27th Street was buried by sand drifts. A bulldozer cleared the street bed.

The Yorkville neighborhood was lucky, Coney Island, less so. Then there are the storm struck areas where life was turn upside down and worse where lives were lost.

Compassion should lead our response, our neighbors assisted. Give what you can to people who have lost too much.

Nature requires respect, logical non-partisan assessment, and prudent redevelopment.
