There Today, Gone Tomorrow

Earlier this year, a gorgeous structure was demolished on Church Street directly west of the Woolworth Building. The Dun & Bradstreet building came down revealing the entire western face of the Woolworth Building for the first time since the early 1950s'. Unfortunately, a new monolith will rise out of the vacant lot over the next year hiding one of Manhattan's skyline's beauties when viewed from the west.

For a brief time, look up and savor the Woolworth Building at sunset from the sidewalk on Church Street.

Washington Square Park & north up Fifth Avenue tonight.

Thanks for noticing that vacant lot. I've seen it too but have been too otherwise engaged to step back and take a look at the Woolworth Building's hitherto unseen side. But, that's not the only vacant lot. Notwithstanding the OBVIOUS large vacant (more than less) vacant lot a few blocks away, there are others downtown, and still more that if developers had the money would be vacant. Not to mention the hideous plans for the South Street area. Stay alert! Good work!

with commerical vacancy rates skyrocketing, and no industry ready to replace finance, I'm wondering, who are the reckless bankers lending money for this wild speculation?

the D&B building was a gem and could have easily fit into the Rockefeller Center footprint
